South Africa has 22 operating manganese mines, with only four of them owned in part by Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)-listed companies, AmaranthCX director Paul Miller has calculated. All are in the Northern Cape, except for four small mines well outside the Northern Cape in the North West, Mpumalanga and Western Cape provinces
